Description/AbstractThis volume contains papers presented at the Materials Research Society symposium entitled Clusters and Cluster-Assembled Materials which was held in Boston, Massachusetts from November 26 to November 30, 1990. This symposium was held for the first time at a Materials Research Society meeting and was organized in recognition of the need to bring together researchers working in various areas of this highly diverse field. The meeting was structured according to four primary areas: clusters, cluster-surface interactions, thin films, and cluster-assembled or nanophase materials. It emphasized experimental and theoretical papers on metal, semiconductor and ceramic materials. The symposium ran for four days and had sixteen regular sessions; it was capped off by a late news session on Buckminsterfullerene - C{sub 60} clusters-entitled, Buckyballs, New Materials Created from Carbon Soot that ran late into the night.
