Analysis of unusual performance indicates high solution-gas-drive recovery--Stateline Ellenburger field

The predictions of reservoir performance are summarized and the primary depletion performance of the Stateline Ellenburger field located in Lea County, N. Mex., and Andrews County, Tex., is discussed. The importance of effective rock compressibility values is illustrated in the calculation of original oil in place from pressure production data in this undersaturated reservoir above the bubble-point pressure. Observed performance and interpretation of reservoir behavior indicate a high critical gas saturation for this dolomite reservoir and prime recovery by solution gas-drive may exceed 50% of the oil in place.
