Description/AbstractMeasurements of alpha asymmetry in mu /sup -/ absorption in calcium were made using 250 Mev/c pulsed mu /sup -/ mesons stopped in a 12 g/cm/sup 2/ calcium target in a magnetic field. The preliminary data show alpha /sub ca/ = - (0.93 plus or minus 0.33). The theoretical and measured magnitudes of alpha indicate the presence of pseudoscalar interaction in the mu /sup -/ + A yields A' + n + nu process. The sign of the pseudoscalar and pseudovector constant in the ratio g/sub p//g/sub A/ is positive. The value of alpha is considerably larger than the theoretical value alpha = 0.41 developed with g/sub A//g/sub v/ = -1.25, g/sub p//g/sup A/ = 8, and g/sup T//g/sup v/ = 3.7. (R.V.J.)
