Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is a national resource, with outstanding scientific and technical capabilities. LLNL has for many years been a leader among Department of Energy (DOE) laboratories in protecting and managing commercially valuable intellectual property. The Industrial Partnerships Office (IPO) works to build collaborations and partnerships with other laboratories, research universities and U.S. industry to successfully commercialize technologies that advance our national and economic security.

Energized by the Bay Area innovation ecosystem, LLNL has a history of developing breakthrough technologies. IPO has links to entrepreneurs, venture investors, and university entrepreneurship centers. LLNL actively develops new mechanisms for commercializing technologies and monetizing intellectual property assets.  LLNL licensed technologies have enabled the launch of numerous new businesses that are helping drive economic growth locally, regionally and beyond.
