| Description | The sequencing of the first tree genome, that of Populus, is currently underway in a project initiated by the Office of Biological and Environmental Research in DOE’s Office of Science. The International Populus Genome Consortium (IPGC) has been formed to help develop and guide post-sequence activities. Foremost among the list of goals highlighted for the consortium will be the development of a comprehensive Populus science plan. The long-term goals of the science plan, although not yet agreed upon, are broadly to:
The IPGC website, hosted at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory, provides draft sequence data as it is made available from DOE Joint Genome Institute, genome analyses for Populus, lists of related publications and resources, and the science plan. | ||
