Title: Interim radiochemical methodology for drinking water

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7304950

A laboratory manual of radiochemical procedures has been compiled and edited for use in the analysis of specific radionuclides in drinking water--nuclides for which the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency has recommended maximum contaminant levels in its Interim Drinking Water Regulations. In addition to gross activity analyses, the procedures for /sup 134/Cs, /sup 137/Cs, /sup 131/I, /sup 226/Ra, /sup 228/Ra, /sup 89/Sr, /sup 90/Sr, /sup 40/K and tritium were evaluated by replicate testing to determine the method capabilities and minimum detection levels. The results, which indicate that the sensitivity of these procedures is greater than the present required limits, are given in the Appendix. Also appended is information on reagent preparation and suggested sources for purchasing special equipment. (GRA)
