Complex uranyl fluorides of the composition M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/), where M/sup I/ is K, Rb, or Cs and M/sup II/ is Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, or Cd, are studied. Complex salts of the composition M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/) were obtained similarly to (NH/sub 4/)/sub 2/--(M/sup II(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/). The equivalence of the water molecules in the structure of M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/) is confirmed by the results of a thermogravimetric investigation. Dehydration of M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/) takes place in one stage. An endoeffect, the temperature of which depends on the M/sup II/ cation, corresponds to this process. With an increase in the radius of M/sup 2 +/ the dehydration temperature of M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/) successively decreases. Dehydration of M/sub 2//sup I/(M/sup II/(H/sub 2/O)/sub 6/)((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/) leads to formation of anhydrous compounds M/sub 2//sup I/M/sup II/((UO/sub 2/)/sub 2/F/sub 8/), stable in a dry atmosphere. In addition to the endoeffect, the derivatograms of all the compounds investigated have a small exoeffect, which follows immediately after the endoeffect and is not accompanied by a change in weight. This effect is apparently due to rearrangement of the crystal lattice of the dehydrated compounds. Its nature has not been investigated.
