Title: Experimental study of /sup 9/Be(/sup 9/Be, (/sup 1/P, /sup 2/D, /sup 3/T, /sup 4/. cap alpha. )) (/sup 17/N, /sup 16/N, /sup 15/N, /sup 14/C) reactions and /sup 9/Be(/sup 9/Be, /sup 9/Be)/sup 9/Be elastic scattering. [5 to 16 meV, differential cross sections]

A method was developed to produce a beam of /sup 9/Be/sup +/ ions from a CN Van de Graaff. Absolute cross sections were measured for elastic scattering of /sup 9/Be on /sup 9/Be at laboratory energies of 5, 9, 12, and 16 MeV. These differential cross sections were fit with a computer code to ascertain optical-model parameters. Absolute differential cross section angular distributions for /sup 9/Be(/sup 9/Be, (/sup 1/P, /sup 3/T, /sup 4/..cap alpha..))(/sup 17/N, /sup 15/N, /sup 14/C) reactions were measured for 5 and 12 MeV laboratory energies. Fits to the reaction data were made using a finite-range recoil DWBA computer code.
