The basic unit of information in a LINCS Control Monologue is a token. A sequence of tokens makes up a statement, a sequence of statements makes up a message, and one or more messages and associated state information make up a control monologue. A monologue is bound to an association. An association is made up of a speaker and a listener, where each is represented as a LINCS port address. The data structure in which the state information retained is called a Control Monologue Record (CMR). This reference document defines the syntax and semantics of tokens, statements, messages, control monologues, and CMRs.
