Method for controlling viscosity of organic liquids and compositions thereof
This patent describes a method for controlling the viscosity of organic liquids. The organic liquid having a solubility parameter of less than 9.5, a viscosity, as measured t 25{degrees} C., of less than 200 centipoises and the organic liquid is selected from the group consisting of alkanes, cycloalkanes and aromatic hydrocarbon and mixtures thereof. It comprises incorporating in the organic liquid about 0.01 to 20 grams of a polymer coordination complex per 100 ml. of the organic liquid, the polymer coordination complex being comprised of a polymer containing neutralized sulfonate groups, and a polymer containing basic nitrogen groups, the functional groups of both polymers being each present at a level of from about 4 to 500 meq. per 100 g. of polymer.
