In order to elucidate the relative stabilities of diazoles benzo(b)selenopheno(3,2-d)-1,2,3-selenadiazole (III) and benzo(b)seleno(3,2-d)-1,2,3-thiadiazole (IV) and diselenine (VI), the authors studied their behavior upon electron impact. The major fragmentation process for M/sup +/. ions of (III) and (IV) is consecutive loss of N/sub 2/ and CSe (or CS) molecules. The fragmentation of these compounds is shown.
