The present conference discusses topics in the fields of coal combustion, sprayed fuel combustion, combustion diagnostics, combustion reaction kinetics, the combustion of solid propellants, laminar flame behavior, turbulent combustion, practical combustion systems, detonations and explosions, combustion-generated pollutants, fire phenomena, and ignition/extinction processes. Attention is given to coal-water fuel combustion, very large methane jet diffusion flames, the control of spontaneous ignition under rapid compression, the reaction of atomic hydrogen with the formyl radical, the effect of fuel structure on pathways to soot, laminar flamelet concepts in turbulent combustion, planar imaging techniques for combustion diagnostics, digital imaging of species concentration fields in spray flames, heat transfer during laminar flame quenching, plasma-propellant flame ignition, superrate burning of catalyzed HMX propellants, and the effects of stretch on flame-induced vorticity.
