BRST-invariant tadpole calculation and diagrammatic formalism in the bosonic string

Planar and nonorientable tadpole operators are evaluated in the Becchi-Rouet-Stora-Tyutin- (BRST-) invariant formalism. It is shown that the insertion of (-1)/sup N//sup >//sup c/+1/2$ (N/sub c/ = ghost-number operator) is needed for keeping the BRST invariance. We shall also discuss the extension of the BRST-invariant diagrammatic calculation to arbitrary diagrams.
