Title: Microstructural effects in abrasive wear. Quarterly progress report, 1 September 1980-1 December 1980

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6614861

This report describes research aimed at establishing quantitative relationships between microstructure and wear resistance of highly alloyed materials, including high-Cr white irons and experimental Co-base and Ni-base powder metallurgy (PM) alloys now used or potentially to be used in coal mining, handling, and gasification. The specific types of wear under study are low-stress abrasion and gouging wear encountered in mining, coal conversion, and transfer applications. During this quarter a review article on abrasion in multiphase alloys has been written.
