Molecular structures of [CpRu(PPh[sub 3])(dtoxa-H[sub 2]O)]BF[sub 4] and [l brace][CpRu(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2]][sub 2]([mu]-dtoxa)[r brace](BF[sub 4])[sub 2], dtoxa = dithiooxamide

The reaction of [CpRu(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2](n-C[sub 3]H[sub 7]SH)]BF[sub 4] with dithiooxamide (dtoxa) gave two products: [l brace][CpRu(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2]][sub 2]([mu]-dtoxa)[r brace] (BF[sub 4])[sub 2], 1, and [CpRu(PPh[sub 3])(dtoxa-H[sub 2]O)]BF[sub 4], 2. The structures of both complexes were determined by X-ray diffraction techniques. Compound 1 crystallized in the triclinic space group P[sub [bar 1]], a = 12.822(4), b = 14.16(1), c = 23.631(8)[Angstrom], [alpha] = 84.57(4), [beta] = 83.64(3), [gamma] = 83.57(4)[degrees], Z = 2, R = 0.069, R[sub w] = 0.084. The structure of 1 shows two CpRu(PPh[sub 3])[sub 2][sup +] units bridged through the S atoms of the dtoxa ligand. Ru-S distances are 2.377(6)[Angstrom] for Ru1-S1 and 2.368(6)[Angstrom] for Ru2-S2. Compound 2 crystallized in the monoclinic space group R2[sub 1]/c a = 13.446(3), b = 13.461(7), c = 31.214(7)[Angstrom], [beta] = 100.78(3)[degrees], Z = 8, R = 0.054, R[sub w] = 0.055. The structure of 2 has two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The Ru is chelated to the dtoxa through the S atoms: Ru1-S1, 2.307(4); Ru1-S2, 2.300(4); Ru2-S3, 2.295(4); Ru2-S4, 2.287(4)[Angstrom]. The coordination sphere of the Ru in 2 is completed by a cyclopentadienyl ligand and a triphenylphosphine. 15 refs., 2 figs., 5 tabs.
