This paper briefly describes the program at the 14th International Conference on Non-Linear Optics held in St. Petersburg, Russia on September 24--27. The technical program covered a wide array of topics including: New Trends in Non-Linear Optics, Laser Chemistry, Optical and Digital Image Processing, Photophysics of Surfaces, Ultrafast Phenomena, Diode Pumped Lasers, Transverse Phenomena in Nonlinear Optics Neural-Like Optical Systems, Laser Spectroscopy, Waveguide Physics, Squeezed States, and Quantum Optics. This paper includes the observations of its author upon attendance of this conference.
