An oxygen-coal-fired power plant diluted with CO/sub 2/, referred to as a carbon-dioxide recycle plant, designed to contain all environmentally unacceptable combustion products was evaluated. The carbon dioxide and sulfur dioxide, as well as any trace nitrogen oxides, are condensed and injected into depleted oil or gas wells or solution mined salt caverns. The cost effectiveness of the plant can be further increased by using the carbon dioxide for enhanced oil recovery. (JMT)
