Mapco Inc. 's 1,170 mile line will extend U. S. NGL natural gas liquids arteries
Mapco Inc.'s 1,170 mile line will extend U.S. NGL (natural gas liquids) arteries from the company's Hobbs Station in Gaines County, Texas, from where pipeline connections exist to the Midwest and Gulf Coast, through New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah to the Rock Springs, Wyoming, area which is part of the Rocky Mountain Overthrust area. Construction might start by mid-1980. The initial capacity will be 35,000 bbl/day, but the capacity eventually will be 65,000 bbl/day. In early 1979, the total production of light liquid hydrocarbons in the area was approx. 18,000 bbl/day, but Mapco estimates that production increases by 1982, 1985, and 1990 will amount to 43,000, 60,000, and 110,000 bbl/day, respectively, and that by 1990, 65,000 bbl/day will be available for export to other markets. The pipeline system will consist of 821 miles of 10.75 inch OD and 42 miles of 12.75 inch OD mainline, along with 139 miles of 8 inch, 147 miles of 6 inch, and 23 miles of 4 inch diameter pipeline. Project components, operation and maintenance, construction, and pump stations are discussed.
