Representatives of federal agencies, the Electric Power Research Institute, rural electric cooperatives, consumer groups, and energy industries spoke at a two-day hearing which focused on the coordination of energy supplies and deliveries with planting and harvesting requirements. Also at issue were environmental and regulatory obstacles that delay energy development. Both supply-side and consumer witnesses reported on the fragility of the energy system.
