Density and surface tension measurements for molten mixtures of beryllium and sodium fluorides
The density and surface tension for molten mixtures of Beryllium and sodium fluorides were presented as the coefficients in linear equations for the temperature dependence found by least-squares fitting, together with the standard deviations of the measured values from those calculated from the equations for the temperature range for the measurements. Density data were used to calculate the molar volumes and the relative deviations from additive values. The physicochemical parameters of NaF-BeF/sub 2/ melts are shown at 1200 K. The structural changes when the fluorides mix, had a substantial effect on the surface properties in the NaF-Be/sub 2/ system, as the deviation in the molar volume from additivity fell in the same ranges as the characteristic changes in surface tension.
