Benzenoid-quinonoid tautomerism of azomethines and their structural analogs. XXXVI. 5-Hydroxy-2,3-tetramethylenebenzo(b)furan-4-carbaldehyde imines (in Russian)

The N-aryl- and N-alkylamines of 5-hydroxy-2,3-tetramethylenebenzo(b)furan-4-carbaldehyde were synthesized. In solutions they exist in two equilibrium forms (hydroxyvinylimine (benzenoid) and aminovinyl ketone (quinonoid)). Substitution of the N-aryl group by an N-alkyl group, increase in the polarity of the solvent, and decrease in the temperature of the solutions shift the tautomeric equilibrium toward the quinonoid form.
