Transfer of technology. Hearings before the Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations of the Committee on Governmental Affairs, United States Senate, Ninety-Eighth Congress, Second Session, April 2, 3, 11, and 12, 1984
Fifteen witnesses spoke during four days of hearings on the administration's plans to control the export of high technology with military applications and on progress the Commerce Department and Customs Service had made in enforcing those controls. A major concern was over bureaucratic cooperation and procedures. Testimony from the Defense and Treasury Departments covered Soviet efforts to acquire US technology, and emphasized the need for firm enforcement of trade restrictions. Witnesses represented national laboratories, research companies, and others involved in the development and trade of technology. Twenty exhibits, including letters, directives, and statements, as well as additional material submitted for the record follow the testimony.
