Oxygen isotope values of vein quartz from the Star-Morning mine range from 13.2{per thousand} to 16.2{per thousand} relative to standard mean ocean water. Calculated isotopic values of water in equilibrium with the vein quartz at 325{degree}C range from 7.2{per thousand} to 10.2{per thousand}. The {delta}{sup 18}O{sub quartz} values decrease with depth in the mine. The {delta}D values of quartz inclusion fluids range from {minus}18{per thousand} to {minus}105{per thousand} and do not significantly correlate with depth. Oxygen isotope values of Belt Supergroup whole-rock samples range from 13.8{per thousand} to 16.8{per thousand}. The data indicate that the fluids were a mix of metamorphic water released from the Belt rocks during low-grade metamorphism, and {sup 18}O-shifted meteoric water.
