Within the past 10 years, MAN B W Diesel in Augsburg, Germany launched a full range of new medium-speed diesels. Fuel economy, reliability, power concentration and production costs were the main design requirements. In 1992, the development of the new 32/40 engine family was announced. For the first time, consideration of exhaust emissions together with a higher degree of operating flexibility played an important role in the engine design. 6 figs.
