Blast furnace stove
This patent describes a blast furnace stove having a vertical combustion chamber adjacent the inside wall of the shell, checkers in the shell, and a burner means for supplying fuel gas and combustion air to the combustion chamber. The improvement described here is in the burner means comprising a generally horizontal first tube extending from outside of the shell into communication with the combustion chamber, a ceramic tube within the first tube with its outer wall spaced from the inner wall of the first tube, a ceramic tube extending upwardly at an angle between 45/sup 0/ and 90/sup 0/, the top of the nozzle terminating substantially no higher than the top of the outer tube, one of the gas and air passing around the ceramic tube within the first tube and the other of the gas and air passing through the ceramic tube and nozzle. The outer tube has a discharge end adjacent the nozzle so that the gas and air are mixed and will burn in the combustion chamber, a ceramic chair. The nozzle is part of the chair, a ceramic bench resting on the floor of the combustion chamber and its top surface receiving the bottom surface of the chair, a vertical lug extending from one of the surfaces into a socket in the other of the surfaces, the socket having horizontal dimensions than the lug to permit limited horizontal movement of the chair with respect to the bench.
