- ed.
This statutory Annual Report to the President and Congress by the Interagency Task Force on Acid Precipitation marks the end of the fifth full year of an integrated research effort by the participating Federal agencies. The National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program is coordinated by the Task Force and focuses federally funded research on the timely development of a firm scientific basis for policy decisions that pertain to the phenomenon referred to as acid rain. The ''Research Overview'' section of the 1986 Annual report provides a synopsis of the results of past and present NAPAP research activities and an outline for future research efforts. This section is organized by task group and includes information on funding, expected deliverables, program highlights, and cooperative initiatives with groups outside the National Program. Task Group include Emissions and Controls, Atmospheric Chemistry, Atmospheric Transport, Atmospheric Deposition and Air Quality Monitoring, Terrestrial Effects, Aquatic Effects, and Effects on Materials and Cultural Resources. 450 refs., 27 figs., 34 tabs.
