Observation and analysis of rotation-particle multiplets in /sup 105/ /sup 107/Ag nuclei. [HI, and reactions at 45 to 60 MeV,. gamma. angular distributions and correlatons]
Excited states in /sup 105/ /sup 107/Ag were studied with the reactions /sup 96/Zr(/sup 14/N,3n)/sup 107/Ag at 49 MeV, /sup 94/Zr(/sup 16/O, p2n)/sup 107/Ag at 59 MeV, /sup 97/Mo(/sup 12/C, p2n)/sup 106/Ag at 45 MeV and /sup 92/Zr(/sup 16/O, p2n)/sup 105/Ag at 60 MeV. ..gamma..-ray angular distribution, ..gamma..-..gamma.. coincidence and ..gamma..-..gamma.. directional correlation measurements were performed and level schemes giving energies and spin-parities of levels were prepared. Most of these levels are reported for the first time. A ..delta..I = 1 level sequence is observed in the collective band built on the unique-parity g/sub 9/2/ orbital in both nuclei. The energy levels and the ..gamma..-ray branching ratios and mixing ratios in this band as well as in the negative-parity band built predominantly on the p/sub 1/2/ orbital are remarkably reproduced by the rotational model. It is found that Coriolis coupling and variable moment of inertia are very important for the success of the model. The same kind of calculation had reproduced the energy levels in odd A Pd and Cd nuclei, where most bands have a ..delta..I = 2 level sequence. It is suggested, in the light of this evidence, that the rotational model adequately describes most states populated by heavy-ion-induced reactions in these nuclei. Two more bands built on the 17/2 (2412.0 keV) and 21/2/sup +/ (3148.6 keV) states were observed in /sup 107/Ag, along with one band built on the 17/2 (2595.8 keV) state in /sup 105/Ag. These are thought to be three-quasiparticle bands.
