Maxus Exploration drilled the H. T. Glasgow No. 2 in the Ellis Ranch Field, Ochiltree County, Texas in June 1991. The GRI cooperative research program on the well included coring, logging, stress testing, prefracture well testing, a fracture treatment, and a post-fracture well test. The well was completed in the Cleveland formation at 7194-7228 feet. After a ballout treatment, the well flowed 80 Mscf/day. The well was fracture treated with 148,000 gallons of a borate gel and 595,000 pounds of 20/40 sand. Initial post-fracture flow rates were 700-800 Mscf/day. Post-fracture analysis with WELLTEST indicated that the fracture half-length was 273 feet, with a permeability of 0.041 md.
