Refractory lining system developed for coal gasifier
A refractory lining that is claimed to withstand the severe environment of high-temperature pressure vessels for coal gasification has been developed. The lining is actually a system of layered refractories specially designed for the coal gasification process. The system comprises: A coating of compliant, corrosion-resistant sodium silicate-based castable applied to the inner shell of the vessel; Special anchor spacing and coating; An insulating refractory layer (Kaolite 2300 LI) applied over the anchors and inner-shell coating; A layer of tar or concrete sealing compound applied over the insulating refractory to act as a bond-barrier; A stainless steel fiber-reinforced working surface of dense castable refractory (Kaocrete HDHS-50) placed over the bond-barrier layer.
