Engine manufacturers continue to seek advancements in engine design to provide a more efficient product with minimal environmental impact and at competitive prices. Papers related to the Conference theme ``Advancements in Engine Design and Applications`` were presented at the 1996 Fall Technical Conference of the ASME Internal Combustion Engine Division. These papers address aspects of the design, development, or application of compression-ignition (diesel) or spark-ignition engines which relate to the above theme. This publication is Volume 4 of 5 volumes which contain the papers relating to the sessions on natural gas engines, combustion, emissions, and simulations. All papers were peer-reviewed and followed the standard ASME publications practices.
