Patent ·
OSTI ID:5394314

A submersible offshore jacket assembly is described comprising: elongated pilings having a first diameter; sleeves of a diameter greater than the first diameter and associated with each piling in surrounding relationship thereto. The sleeves are aligned longitudinally on the pilings; the longitudinally aligned sleeves being spaced longitudinally from the next adjacent longitudinally aligned sleeves on the pilings; top horizontal braces secured to and extending between the uppermost longitudinally aligned sleeves on the pilings; bottom horizontal braces secured to and extending between the lowermost longitudinally aligned sleeves on the pilings; a diagonal braces arrangement between the longitudinally spaced longitudinally aligned sleeves from the top to the bottom horizontal brace, vertical brace adjacent and extending parallel to each of the pilings and secured to one of the diagonal braces extending between adjacent, longitudinally aligned and longitudinally spaced sleeves; each of the pilings including a flood valve at the lower end thereof for flooding the interior of each of the pillings to thereby sink the assembly to the bottom of a submerged surface; a reach rod within of the pilings connected to the flood valve and accessible at the upper end of each of the pilings for actuating and de-actuating the flood valve; and means to introduce grout into each of the sleeves to secure the longitudinally spaced sleeves in position along the pilings in longitudinally spaced relation.
