This two-day hearing on two Senate bills (S. 1662 and S. 637) dealing with nuclear waste disposal and storage focused on the possibilities for consensus on the management of civilian nuclear wastes. Nineteen witnesses presented the views of the states and federal agencies involved and arguments from the nuclear industry, environmental groups, and the Union of Concerned Scientists.
