Conditions of degradation of heat transfer under conditions of forced potassium-vapor flow in a straight vertical pipe

The results of the experimental determination of the critical values of the vapor content at the onset of degradation of heat transfer accompanying boiling of potassium in a straight vertical pipe are presented. The experimental data are compared with the results obtained by other authors. It is shown that degradation of heat transfer is a consequence of the breakdown of the continuity of the film of liquid at the wall. The values of the critical gas content, referring to a crisis in irrigation, are obtained for the first time in a study of liquid metals.
