Domestic and foreign molybdenum markets expanded in 1989, but mine production among market economy countries exceeded demand. Domestic producer and consumer stocks increased. U.S. mine output of molybdenum increased to 54% of world production. Reported end use consumption of molybdenum in raw materials increased. The reported U.S. consumption by end use remained about the same as in the previous year. Exports of all forms of molybdenum from the United States increase. Domestic producer stocks of molybdenum products increased to about 11 months of annual consumption.
