Title: Some geochemical features of outburst-hazardous coal

Journal Article · · Solid Fuel Chem. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:5239553

It has been shown that in outburst-hazardous coals conditions exist for the retention of oxidized forms of polyvalent elements, especially nitrogen. The geochemical features of coal beds are due to the redox conditions, pH, and pressure that the bed experiences and the temperature. The main indices of the geochemical state of a bed are the forms of the polyvalent elements, especially sulfur and nitrogen, and also the oxygen content. On the form in which they are present in the coal depend the properties of the latter and, probably, those natural phenomena which take place during periods of development of the coal beds.
