Resin-coated sand can be used to repair damaged slotted liner gravel packs without removing the liner from the well. Either concentric or coiled tubing can be used to perform the treatment, using a small workover rig. The well can be returned to production typically in 24 hours. This repair technique has been used with success in the Gulf Coast and West Coast areas. Economy of the treatment makes it viable for wells that are too marginal to justify complete liner workovers. This paper describes the features and the application of the system and reports field results of 12 jobs performed over intervals up to 300 ft.
