Pumping heavy loads with the Mark II
The primary intent of this discussion was to catalog some of the measured performance data of a heavier class Mark II beam pump under actual conditions. With the advent of these larger units, and associated equipment such as improved rods, pump, prime movers, etc., it is believed that the tried and proven method of sucker rod pumping can be used to produce higher fluid volumes from greater depths with maximum economy, simplicity, and reliability. A method is described for predicting Mark II loads and pump displacements. This advanced predictive technique, which actually synthesizes a polished rod dynamometer card and performs among other things a standard API torque factor analysis, usually gives good predictive results, provided accurate data are fed into the mathematical model.
