Glueballs: Charmonium decay and {bar p}p annihilation
- Department of Physics, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan 10764, Republic of (China)
The vector glueball O, made of 3 valence gluons, is expected to be {open_quotes}clean{close_quotes}: it mixes less with quarkonia, but mediates OZI violations. The recent 0{sup ++} glueball candidate and the persistence of the J/{psi},{psi}{sup {prime}}{r_arrow}{rho}{pi} puzzle suggest m{sub O}{approx_equal}m{sub J/{psi}}, with mixing angle {approximately}2{degree}{endash}4{degree}; hence, {Gamma}(O{r_arrow}{rho}{pi}, K{sup +}K{sup {minus}}, e{sup +}e{sup {minus}}){approximately}MeV, few keV, few eV. Lower and upper bounds on {Gamma}{sub O} can be argued from e{sup +}e{sup {minus}}{r_arrow}{rho}{pi} energy scan data and the condition B(O{r_arrow}{rho}{pi}){gt}B(J/{psi}{r_arrow}{rho}{pi}). O dominance may explain the {open_quotes}large{close_quotes} OZI violation in {sup 1}S{sub 0}({bar p}p){r_arrow}{phi}{gamma} vs {omega}{gamma}. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}
