We analyze the electron boson interaction using many-body methods in the framework of the marginal Fermi liquid theory. Special attention is paid to the approximations necessary to obtain a marginal behavior. We show that the effective coupling constant between electrons is attractive on the entire energy scale. The renormalization of the bosonic spectrum due to the Coulomb interaction is also analyzed. 13 refs.
