The proposed design of the National Ignition Facility (NIF) is reviewed from the standpoint of the involvement of both radioactive and hazardous materials. Detailed analyses of these factors indicated that minimal environmental impacts are expected to occur, and very low exposures are predicted for both workers and the general public. 4 refs., 3 tabs.
