Metering Research Facility Program. Orifice meter installation effects: Ten-inch sliding flow conditioner tests. Technical memorandum, January-June 1996
This report presents the results of 10-inch (250 mm) orifice meter installation effects test performed in the Gas Research Institute (GRI) Metering Research Facility (MRF) High Pressure Loop (HPL) using a meter tube with an orifice fitting and a short upstream length of 17 pipe diameters (D) installed downstream of a tee. The main objective was to determine the effects of the type and location of flow conditioner in the upstream section of a short, 17 D meter tube on the value of orifice discharge coefficient (Cd). A secondary objective was to confirm the validity of scaling installation effects results from 4-inch to 10-inch diameter by comparing these new results to the 10-inch MRF HPL with previous results obtained in the 4-inch MRF Interim Low Pressure Loop (ILPL).
