The design and limitation of apparatus for use in measurement of radiation exposure are discussed with emphasis on calibration and effects of various factors (proximity of measurer, radiation energy, etc.) on response. The instruments covered include ionization chambers, geiger counters, organic and inorganic scintillation counters, photoconductive crystals, boron neutron counters, and quartz-fiber dosimeters.
