IRRADIATION CAPSULE
A capsule is described comprising a hermetically sealed tubular container for the sample. The sample is supported by a cylindrical sleeve of refractory material so that annular interspaces are formed between the container wall and the sleeve, and between the sleeve and the sample, and a heating coil is disposed within that sleeve. Lateral openings in the sleeve in the proximity of its extremities ensure the communication of those interspaces in order to allow a natural circulation of the fluid within the capsule. According to the present addition, means are provided for the determination of the fluid flow of the circulation, comprising an airscrew-like wheel rotatively mounted within the sleeve in the proximity of one end of the sample. According to a first embodiment, the wheel rotates freely and is provided with a pin-point radioactive source that passes periodically in front of a radiation counter. The frequency of the measuring signal of the counter is a measure of the fluid flow. According to another embodiment, the wheel is driven by an electric motor disposed within the capsule such as to control the fluid flow up to a given level. (IIB)
