We have continued studies of our germanium detector doped with {sup 14}C. In 1991 we reported a distortion in the {sup 14}C beta spectrum that could be explained by the emission of a 17-keV neutrino in approximately 1% of the decays. Additional tests have shown that systematic effects caused by the active guard ring may be related to this distortion. Results of these tests and the status of the experiment will be discussed.
