Analytic expressions are derived for and quantitative estimates are obtained of the frequency and damping (decay) decrement of relaxation oscillations of the intensity of radiation from a 2-{mu}m thulium laser with a Cr{sup 3+}, Tm{sup 3+} : YSGG crystal operating under cw and pulsed conditions.
