Multicomponent kinetic model of negative and positive short-space corona in air
- Triniti, Moscow (Russian Federation); and others
This report represents the experimental data and results of numerical simulation of a positive and negative corona (PC and NC) between coaxial cylinders separated by short gap. The interelectrode space is smaller in size than a length of transformation for an electron current into the one of negative ions. The kinetic effects (attachment and detachment of electrons, recombination of charged particles, etc.) and non-one-dimensional divergence of the current from cathode spots are crucial factors for short-space corona, in contrast to long-space one. Taking into account these effects is made possible by use of the multicomponent kinetic model only. Experiments were carried out with a weak flow (V=3-5 m/s) of dry air at pressure P=740 Tor and temperature T=292 K. The radii of an inner electrode (wire) and outer one (profiled cylinder) were equal to 0,01 cm and 1 or 3 cm respectively.
