This report provides a performance investigation of rotary compressors with five kinds of lubricants. Experiments on 19 test-working conditions, including the standard working condition (condensing temperature 54.4 C (129.9 F), evaporating temperature {minus}23.3 C ({minus}10 F)) for each lubricant, were conducted. The results of the experiments showed that coefficient of performance (COP) for HFC-134a is lower than that for CFC-12 when the evaporating temperature is below {minus}20 C ({minus}4 F). When the evaporating temperature is over {minus}20 C ({minus}4 F), the opposite results are obtained.
