An automatic sample changer has been added to the standard General Atomic design pneumatic-transfer system. Using small rabbit capsule, 1 x 2-1/2-inch, up to 24 samples may be loaded into the sample changer. A solenoid-operated sliding block is positioned to load, send, receive for counting, and then discharge the sample container to a shielded storage magazine. The automatic controller incorporates both microswitch and photo- electric devices to monitor the position of the capsules in the sample changer. Radiation exposure to the experimenter is reduced and the monotony of routine irradiations of large.numbers of samples is made more bearable using the automatic system. (author)
