Large diffraction-grade single crystal diamond for applications at new generation synchrotron and FEL x-ray sources
Technical Report

J2 Materials successfully produced single-crystal diamond samples of high quality, as evaluated by multiple techniques. Diamond material of at least 256mm3 was produced for this study. Raman and x-ray characterization of the samples indicated low-strain single-crystal material with a high degree of sp2 bonding. Due to operational challenges, thermal measurements were not able to be obtained. Methods of improving depositional characteristics via biasing of the deposition area showed positive results. However, more development of the biasing approach is necessary to fully realize the benefits of the technique.
