LuGdCu2 is Heusler structured and crystallizes in the cubic Fm-3m space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Lu is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Cu atoms. All Lu–Cu bond lengths are 2.98 Å. Gd is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to eight equivalent Cu atoms. All Gd–Cu bond lengths are 2.98 Å. Cu is bonded in a body-centered cubic geometry to four equivalent Lu and four equivalent Gd atoms.
